Senior News Editor (Arabic)

About the role

Whyz Media publishes explanatory Arabic journalism that goes past the headline to the context, the meaning and the consequence. As Senior News Editor you set the daily agenda for the Arabic desk, commission and edit explainers across politics, economics, culture, technology and social issues, and are the final quality gate before anything is published.

What you will do

• Run the morning editorial meeting and set the day's publishing agenda
• Commission, structure and line-edit long and short-form explainers in Arabic
• Enforce sourcing, fact-checking and correction standards across the desk
• Coach junior reporters on narrative structure and clarity
• Work with the video and social teams so each story ships in the right format

What we are looking for

• 7+ years in Arabic-language newsrooms, at least 2 in an editing role
• Native-level Arabic writing and editing; strong working English
• Demonstrated judgement on sensitive and politically contested stories
• Comfort with digital-first publishing rhythms and analytics
